Description
Valtrex is an antiviral medication containing the active ingredient valaciclovir. It is used to treat viral infections caused by the following viruses: herpes simplex (HSV), varicella zoster (VZV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV). These viruses may appear as shingles in adults, chickenpox, eye infection in adults with weakened immune systems (ophthalmic zoster), HSV infections of the skin, genitals, or eyes, and CMV infection after organ transplant surgery.
