Description
Zovirax is a medication available in different forms: cream, ointment, tablets, and syrup. Each is indicated for a slightly different treatment, but all contain the active ingredient aciclovir, an antiviral drug used to kill or stop certain viruses.
Zovirax tablets 200 mg, 400 mg, and syrup are used to treat chickenpox, shingles, cold sores, genital herpes, and other herpes simplex infections. They also help prevent recurring herpes simplex infections in patients with strong or weak immune systems.
Zovirax tablets, 800 mg, are used to treat chickenpox and shingles.
Zovirax cream is a topical medication used to treat cold sores right when they appear and to help speed up their healing. It is sold over-the-counter.
