Description
Modal (sulpiride) is a medication of the benzamide class (typical antipsychotics). Modal capsules (40 mg) are used mainly in the treatment of vertigo and pre-psychotic states. Modal Forte tablets (200 mg) are used in the treatment of vertigo and pre-psychotic states and as well in psychiatric patients for the treatment of depression and apathy. Sulpiride can treat and prevent the return of symptoms in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Note: Sulpiride is not approved for marketing in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration but is used as a psychotherapeutic agent in the EU, UK and other countries. Sulpiride is approved in Japan as a treatment for schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. Modal can be prescribed off-label by physicians in the US.
Dosage
The dosage and regimen will be determined by the doctor.
If a higher dosage has been taken accidentally or if a child has accidentally swallowed the medicine, go immediately to a doctor or a hospital emergency room and take the package with.
Symptoms of an overdose include restlessness, confusion or agitation, reduced level of consciousness, trembling, muscle stiffness or spasms, movement difficulties, uncontrolled movements in the eyes, neck, arms and legs), and producing more saliva than usual.
If a regular dose was missed at the set time, make up the dose as soon as possible, but if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the forgotten dose. Do not double dose to make up for the missed dose.
